During 2014 CPI was able to complete or initiate six assignments with five different clients. The following provides a brief view of our work in the past calendar year:
- In the winter and early spring of 2014, CPI and Frank Colvario in particular provided continued financial services and expertise to this small Greater Boston city. Significant focus was given to the development of a new budget format which detailed, to the delight of school administrators and then to elected school officials, pertinent data in an easy and reader friendly manner, the financial plans of the district.
- CPI continued, for the twelfth successive year, its advisory services with the owner and staff of a statewide and regional insurance consultant and brokerage.
- With a statewide insurance vendor, CPI proved research and insights into catastrophic losses that obtained, and in the future would seek, FEMA funds for claims. Eventually CPI provided two three-ring binders as easy access resources for the vendor and its clients.
- With this same statewide insurance vendor, Frank participated in discussion relative to revolving accounts and losses with pending claims, sometimes covering more than one fiscal year.
- In Vermont during the fall, CPI undertook its third assignment with this town’s school districts. This assignment was to ascertain from several senior school administrators the viability of undertaking a more significant study focusing on strengths and weaknesses of specific school departments.
- In the late fall, CPI started and continued to help a small town with a significant fraud and series of consequences. Eventually, with the existing auditor and school counsel, CPI provided insights and knowledge to the development of a insurance claim.
For the fourth year and with significant assistance from MASC (Glen Koocher and Michael Gilbert) CPI planned and conducted workshops in Marlborough MA. These workshops were in October and November and were designed for aspiring superintendents.
